I’m not religious by any stretch, but there was something unexpectedly peaceful about walking through places built to make you feel small—in the face of both divinity and marble.

Following the Angels & Demons trail around Rome added a fictional thrill to the already surreal surroundings—because nothing says “holiday” like blending conspiracy theory tourism with gelato.
